About This Place

Nestled in the heart of downtown Portland, Thai Peacock offers an inviting journey into authentic Thai cuisine with a contemporary twist. This charming Thai restaurant at 219 SW 9th Ave is a favorite among locals who crave bold and vibrant flavors served in a warm, bustling atmosphere enhanced by elegant chandeliers and a stylish balcony view.

Thai Peacock’s menu is a celebration of classic Thai dishes that both soothe and excite the palate. The standout Khao Soi delivers a rich, fragrant curry broth that perfectly complements its crispy and tender noodles. For noodle stir-fry enthusiasts, their Pad SE-EW—a big cut rice noodle, gently kissed by sweet soy sauce and Chinese broccoli—is an irresistible choice, especially with its delicate balance of textures and flavors. The famed Pad Thai here is a masterclass in technique; the noodles are impeccably cooked, neither too wet nor sticky, delivering that ideal chewy bite paired with tamarind’s gentle tang, crunchy peanuts, and a splash of fresh lime.

Those looking to indulge in delightful curries will find the Panang, Red, Massaman, and Yellow Curries exceptionally crafted — fragrant, creamy, and perfectly spiced to brighten the senses. Vegetarian and gluten-free diners can rejoice at options like the Pad SE-EW GF VG and the vibrant Golden Noodle ramen stir-fry, packed with fresh vegetables like baby corn and red bell peppers.

Don’t miss the innovative desserts that perfectly round out the meal. The Thai Milk Tea Soft Cake, topped with silky house-made ganache, offers a blissful balance of sweetness and the nostalgic, earthy essence of Thai milk tea. For something lighter, the crispy banana rolls drizzled with caramel and condensed milk provide a crispy, sweet finale.

Complement your meal with thoughtfully curated drinks like the Tamarind Whiskey Sour and the refreshingly floral Lychee Hibiscus Juice, which have earned praise from diners for their perfect balance and inventive flair.

The dining experience at Thai Peacock combines speedy, attentive service with a cozy yet sophisticated environment. Loyal customers often celebrate the friendly and reliable service, highlighting hosts like Nancy who ensure each visit feels personal and welcoming. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick bite with friends or settling in for a relaxed dinner, the portion sizes are satisfying without compromising affordability—a rare gem amid Portland’s culinary scene.

From the moment you step in, there’s a palpable excitement in the air: the clinking of glassware, the inviting aroma of freshly prepared Thai herbs and spices, and the subtle hum of delighted diners enjoying their meals. Thai Peacock captures the essence of Thai cooking with genuine hospitality and impeccable flavor, making it a must-visit destination to savor the best of Thailand right in Portland.

My go-to spot for a quick bite! I come here with my friends and family for the beef pad see ew and refreshing lychee hibiscus juice. Love the flavor and the texture of the noodles. The service is extremely fast and the prices are affordable. And Nancy is an amazing and reliable server, she takes such good care of us every time! Loyal Thai Peacock fan forever

Amazing food. I’ll be thinking about it for a while. The pad Thai was nicely cooked. Not too juicy and noodles doesn’t stick. Well done.

Stopped by for an early Sunday dinner. Great food, big portions, affordable prices. Only wish was that the server had asked for spiciness level so that my chicken pad see ew could’ve been spicier. Trout and fried rice was delicious and trout was perfectly fried. Either way, highly recommend if you are in downtown Portland

Wow, this place is amazing! Even though it was super busy, we didn't have to wait long, and we got a sweet balcony view. The decorations were gorgeous, especially those chandeliers. The menu had tons of stuff to choose from. I thought the digital menu was a cool touch, kept things fresh. Getting drinks was a great call! Mine was perfect, not too strong, and hers was awesome too. The food came out fast and was cooked perfectly! The noodles were on point, and the spice level was just right! That spicy sauce was exactly what I needed to spice up half my dish! I totally recommend the sample plate, everything was delicious with its own sauce. I think the crab puffs were the best part, so crispy and crunchy outside, and the inside was creamy, the sweet n sour sauce made it even better. I would've ordered like 20 of them if I had room! The pork with the rice plate was just okay. Everything else was awesome, but the pork needed something... maybe a sauce or a better marinade. The dessert was kinda funny, I don't know what I was expecting, but the little tin it came in wasn't the best look for the last course! Maybe it could have been plated differently, or something else would have been better, but it was the only dessert option. Still a great place, and I'd totally go back to try more dishes!

After getting hungry from exploring Powell's, we decided to walk over to Peacock Thai. We were seated right away and ordered the Thai salad, Pad Phet, and Pad Khi-Mao. Everything was great, though the Pad Khi-Mao could have used a little more flavor. Overall, I'd definitely recommend it!

I went with two people who were gluten-free and all of our meals were perfect! Could not recommend this place more highly. Lunch came out surprisingly quickly.
